Continuous Improvement Event – Workplace Redesign

Brief

A national facilities management service provider requested that Rigby Morrison work with them in order to re-design their central office in order to improve the daily working dynamic.

Solution

Rigby Morrison suggested a continuous improvement event to engage all stakeholders within the office environment, and ultimately achieve the best collective outcome for all parties. This whilst maintaining the overall focus of improving the daily working dynamic.

A Rigby Morrison lean facilities management consultant prepared, and delivered, a continuous improvement event by gathering the office staff representatives, managers, and other office stakeholders together to map the existing office layout and document any found weaknesses. It was from this that the group worked to develop an office layout that was both suitable for the stakeholders and offered an enhanced working dynamic (positioning based on the frequency of communication, access to materials and equipment, access to data, etc.).

Results

As well as providing a more productive workspace, the continuous improvement event promoted the idea of positive and collective change, empowered the stakeholders to raise ideas, and gave them a voice. All of which improved the daily working dynamic, as was the central aim of the project.

Feedback

The customer was delighted with the new working dynamic and has found that the change was positively received by the stakeholders as they contributed towards it.
